Definition and concepts

For UK NEETs data, young people are defined as those aged 16 to 24 years, while anybody who is not in education or training and not in employment is considered to be NEET. More detailed definitions can be found in the glossary of the Young people not in education, employment or training (NEET) release.

Overall education and training figures include young people in part time education, but not those in reengagement provision, gap years or those with an agreed education and training start date.
